My Attempts at HDR Imaging

Dave at work sent me this link to a website with some crazy pictures and a tutorial on creating High Dynamic Range pictures: http://www.vanilladays.com/hdr-guide/#tools
That website uses a program to do it automatically, but the basic concept is that you take 3 pictures of the same scene with -2, 0 and +2 exposure, then merge the pictures together. The images it creates (or at least the ones the artist on that site created) are absolutely surreal. I discovered that my program has an HDR merge option, so I tried it out today. I'll post the results of the 3 I made using the HDR merge option and two more that I merged then messed with. I have to say that after trying it with my inferior photo editing software, I'm tempted to purchase the HDR program in the vanilladays tutorial! Thanks for looking, and by all means if you have suggestions - send them my way!

Funny Story with Pics!

While making lunch last week, my husband realized that Killian was entirely too quiet. Knowing, as all parents do, that quiet usually spells trouble, he called for him a few times but received no response. He went to look for him and found that he had grabbed a blanket and plug from his crib, and was napping with the dog on a rug in our living room. Here are his pics. How cute is that?

Photographer of the Week!

Last week, I was the Photographer of the Week (POTW) on the iVillage Family Photography board (here's a link: http://messageboards.ivillage.com/iv-ppphoto). Basically that entails answering a bunch of questions related to my photography and posting an SOOC shot (Straight Out Of the Camera) for others to edit. Here's what they came up with for my picture of Killian, my edited version is in another post if you're interested. I just love what they came up with! Blogger will only let me add 5 per post - so more above!

After staring at this picture for a while, I can see some serious flaws - the bar from his baby gate behind his head is distracting, and on the table pic below, the picture frame on top and whatever is behind his chair needs to be removed. I'm going to work on this tonight and post the (what I hope will be) improvements later.

New Year, New Pictures.

Happy new year! Killian starts school on Monday, so I've been going a little crazy taking pictures (345 yesterday) while I still have him in my hot little hands. Please leave some constructive criticism while you're here. I need all the help I can get.
